Please Give Me some advice on Career Advancement

I am second year economics undergraduate whose main career goal is to be a corporate finance investment bank, I have tried (minimal number of applications) to get internship and I was recommended by SEO London (an organisation that helps ethnic minorities get internships). I was told that based on my numerical test and meet and greet session (mainly numerical section) they can only place me in the finance department of an investment bank not corporate finance which is what I really want..so I was wondering is all hopeless if I don't get another internship/placement this year, I will apply to to other firms at the start of next year. However, this has made me reconsider my preferences, perhaps I would be more suitable to a role in equity research or sales, if numeracy is not my strength. I do plan on taking on this opportunity if nothing else turns up this year..I really don't ever want to give up on this goal of being an investment banker.

What steps would you advice me to take?

Thank You
