Please Help - Current junior

Hello everyone,

So I'm currently a junior and have not found a summer internship yet. I am determined to work in IB when I graduate (preferably MM or boutique, but beggars can't be choosers). I am extremely worried about this summer and prospects of landing an IB job next fall (as I will not have time to earn experience that fall and post it on my resume in time) and have no clue what I can do. I feel helpless, I've emailed nearly every bank in existence and have even branched out into other financial services. I do have the opportunity to work in mgmt at a semi exclusive gym this summer, but that is irrelevant.

Another problem is that I am broke. Go to school in NY, but will not be able to justify working an unpaid internship unless it is really attractive. I am going to sit on a sales desk at a MM bank tomorrow with an alum who said he'd like to talk to me (however made it clear during our phone call that summer internship position would be a slim proposition).

I feel like I have exhausted all contacts and job possibilities and feel like I have no options left. Please help me! Constructive criticism welcome

Thanks,

That sucks. Good luck, hope you find something.

Haha, that is not quite the advice I was looking for. That is something my mom would say to me.

I am feeling very motherly today.

And there you see in the tall grass, gents, is the elusive Flake's Feminine Side. Normally, this magnificent creature hides in a cave during the day. However, perhaps through PMS or syphilis devouring the brain, Flake's Feminine Side is currently out comforting fellow WSOers.

But yeah OP, break past IB/S&T, look into corp. fin, AM, HF, ER, or VC. i know for sure a bunch of NYC vcs take minimally paid interns, and that could really help you stand out.

Cheers.
