Possible other paths

I recently received an offer for a full-time analyst position in a top group at a GS/JPM/MS. I think I would be happy with accepting it and figuring out what I really want to do with my career while there, but I am wondering what other opportunities to leverage the offer could be? I would not want to go to a different bank, but as an undergrad with a banking offer, what is the field like for top tech companies, PE (and if anyone has a short list of which are hiring undergrads), consulting (on an accelerated basis), etc. Also would love to hear more out-of-the-box ideas.

Additionally, do banks tend to be open to deferring offers for a year if one wants to do a prestigious fellowship for a year out of college, or the like?

Thanks for the help!

Any PE firm that would be worth taking over the GS/JPM/MS offer would give 0 rats about your offer...don't see why a tech company would care either given that you're going to be a first year analyst...I would take the offer and work there for at least 2 years...if the bank/group is as prestigious as you say it is then a lot of doors will be open for you afterwards

Thanks. I guess leverage may have been the wrong term--what I meant was simply what are other paths to think about as an alternative to accepting the offer (whether or not the offer itself helps me get the job).

Um, are there other career paths? I believe there may be one or two things other than banking.

What's your ultimate goal? Banking opens a lot of doors but if you want to be an astronaut it's probably not the best route.
