Post-sophomore Opportunities
So there are a few BBs that offer programs for sophomores (GS, JPM). Others say that there programs are specifically for juniors. If one was to contact alumni and network well, do you think it would be possible to get interviews although you are a year early? Or is the requirement very rigid?

I'm a sophomore in an all-junior internship program at a BB. NOT in a sophomore rotational, although I have classmates in those. You hit the nail on the head. Networking is the biggest key. What I did was simply network like normal, and when in our first phone conversation, mentioned that I was a sophomore. The key is not to make him or her feel like this was some trick or manipulation. There are also other sophomores floating around in the junior programs, so the requirement is not that rigid. I did notice, however, that this needs to be from someone Associate or above, because HR and sometimes analysts don't know that they could make that kind of exception. Good luck! That's awesome. Congrats on landing the spot. My only concern is that if I network a lot this summer, I may not stand out come the following year. Perhaps having the longer relationship would stand out though, I'll just have to keep in touch with them. I am currently working on landing an internship at a pwm branch this summer. Could you share what kind of experience you had prior to this summer?

Last summer, I stayed on campus and worked as a research assistant at our business school. Also, I worked as a course assistant for a math class. I had an MD that I recently met give me a two-day shadow through his firm, also I met many alums my freshman year through information sessions at my school. But no spectacular experience.
At information sessions at my school, I'm always surprised by how well I connect with MDs. I think it's because I'm very researched into what I want to do, and honestly, I think I stood out because I was the only freshman (and last year, one of few sophomores) at a junior information session. Use that to your advantage. Also, my extracurricular activities played a big role and was a major topic of conversation.
How did you manage to not come across as a stuck-up freshman? Not trolling, not trying to be a dick. I know when I was going through recruiting, the younger guys always came across as a bit toolish, and I'm just wondering how you managed to avoid that perception.
