Preparing for Summer 2028 Internship Recruiting

How does one prepare  mentally for IB recruiting? I need to mentally prepare myself for summer analyst recruiting this upcoming winter. I heard horror stories about sleepless nights, losing friends, never touching  grass, being a linkedin gremlin... I like seeing the sun and hanging out with my friends. Does investment banking recruiting really mean leaving it all behind? Honestly not sure if i have it in me.

I heard that equity research, asset management, and sales and trading are much more reasonable. Do those even require as tight timelines? I assume those start after ib

I can only speak from my own experience, but I come from a non target. It became normal for me to skip classes, stop going to the gym entirely, stay up past midnight sending stupid fucking scheduled emails, take multiple “coffee chat” phone calls per day, I went on very frequent “sprints” where I spent hours upon hours each day cramming and prepping for not only IB but also for my classes, and my internship search for that summer.

But I also had time to go out nearly every weekend or every other weekend. So it’s not like your life instantly becomes depressing, but it does require to have a real work ethic.
