Private Banking Prestige

I am currently working on breaking into JPM PB (entering senior year at a non-target) and am wondering what the prestige/respect given to PB is from the rest of the Street. PB is something I’ve become more interested in recently because of the vast amount of product offerings one has to be knowledgeable on. In addition, the heavy client-focused portion of the business is appealing to me.

However, I also think I might be placing more value on PB for myself than what I actually do. Despite having PE and AM internships, I’ve had an extremely difficult time recruiting for FT and even other BB SA roles for once I graduate. Because of this, I think in some ways I am trying to almost compensate in a way since I’ve had such a difficult time breaking into BB/EB IB and AM.

I’m open to any advice and guidance. Thanks.
