Depends on the firm - at my bank they are done with the m&a team. Some banks may have a dedicated PP group as well.

Super lame but all of JPM’s ABS and MBS originations teams are housed under S&T.
Both capital market coverage and M&A bankers did them at my firm, depending on which MD sourced the deal. ECM had no value add for PPs and was never involved.
