Programming for this Summer
So I am a highly motivated freshman (Top 1.5% of my class) studying finance who so far has been dinged by random companies that had openings I could apply to (albeit not in the I-banking realm)
I have been learning excel and have become proficient (Sumif, Pivot Tables, Vlookup etc.). Although I have no current plans to take programming or learn coding in college, I was exploring a possible certificate at NYU for this summer in a language.
As somebody who hopes to gain an Ibanking internship for next summer, 1) is this a good use of my time and $? 2)If so, which language is best to familiarize myself with?
If you think this is a waste of time, what is a better use of my summer?
I would use an online resource to learn code: codeacademy, treehouse, udacity. From there try and build something--that is the best way to learn. Other than that, do something fun or interesting. You seem motivated and getting into IB should not be very difficult for you, so take some time to pursue other hobbies or interests.
