If the internship is related to banking/finance then yes, it will help. The marginal benefit of having 1 more year of school activities is not great unless you do something truly amazing.

I always tell undergrads considering staying 1 more year to look before they leap: in most cases it probably won't add much and it has the added downside of not being as much fun as your undergrad days since most of your friends will be gone.

Bottom line: only do it if you're 100% certain you want to do banking and are also fairly certain you can get a banking/PE/HF internship.

I think it is very helpful if you can get a good internship. Definitely not worth it for school activities in my opinion. Also, consider how hiring is for the year- for example, this year and next might not be the best time to be graduating looking for a banking job.
