PTO for Funeral as a First Year Analyst
Long story short, I hit the desk recently but have just lost a grandparent and need to go to Asia for a few days on short notice for the funeral. Has anyone had any experience in this? I obviously want to make a good impression during these first few months, but at the same time I would be gutted if I can't even take a few days off to pay respects to my grandparent. Would appreciate any input here, thank you.
I don’t know the answer so maybe someone else can chime in but I’m sorry for your loss
Draw the line for yourself early that you will not sacrifice family for this job / money. Go pay your respects and take any time to mourn as needed. If the culture at your firm is not supportive, would do your time and leave asap (or look at lateraling).
Any reasonable bank wouldn’t say no. If they say no you don’t want to work there anyway.
You should definitely take the time off. That’s not PTO it’s bereavement which is its own thing. Nobody will hold that against you.
Echo these comments. Anyone who would hold this against you is a loser.
Take a week off. No one's going to judge you for this and you will regret it if you don't.
Firstly very sorry about your loss. 100% take the time off.
Above commenter is right, you should be able to use bereavement days and not PTO. Dealt with loss earlier this year and used a 3/5 annual bereavement days. I suspect your bank has a similar policy. I would ask HR.
head up!
those logos aint aligning themselves
You only have one life brother. This job is meaningless compared to what family is. There is nothing more important than the people in your life.
