Public Finance Major

Hello, I am currently a freshman at a public school (along the lines of UC Berkeley, Michigan, UVA). I am interested in becoming a public finance analyst, but I was wondering, which major would be best suited for this sector? Would it be public policy or finance? I was thinking of becoming a public policy major.

The breakdown I have seen in PF is majority are finance/econ majors, then a decent amount (10%-20%) of STEM people and then a random history/psych/etc major here and there (5%). I think your best bet is to go finance major but a public policy minor/double major and some relevant internships would give you a major leg up on the competition. Not a lot of people come out of college thinking they want to go into PF so your interest in it will definitely be very advantageous. PM if you have any questions on PF.

This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..
