Purple Heart to Front Office

Hey guys,

Senior in high school here. I rcently got accepted to a non-target school and realize i have no shot at FO comin out of there. So I was wonderin: should I go into the military for six years n then try my luck at breaking into IBD? If I was to earn something like a purple heart or bronze star, would that show enough committment and daring to get into a BB bank?

You all probly think I'm real stupid cuz I didn't get into a target school, but really i'm very smart (1300 SAT, 3.6 GPA).

Thanks for help.

Your reason for joining the military definitely shouldn't be with the hopes of getting a Purple Heart or Bronze Star. The Purple Heart is awarded for being injured by the enemy during battle, and take it from someone who has one- it's not worth what you have to do to get it.

I was an infantry squad leader in the Marine Corps and I'm currently trying to get a Summer Analyst Internship at a BB IBD and the one thing I have received the most positive feedback on is the leadership experiences I achieved while in the Marines. To me, that is why companies like veterans. Although there are other ways to gain leadership positions, it seems like the majority of people agree that being in a leadership position in the military is a level above things such as student organizations and fraternities. Best of luck making your decision.

I hope this is a joke post? (Possibly making fun of my post?)

When you're out in the fields of Afghanistan getting shot at and ask yourself why you're there, would you tell yourself? At least this will look really good on my resume when I apply to IBD...
