Qatalyst Analyst Overall Experience?
Potentially joining as a lateral, will have to redo a year as an analyst which I’m fine with. Curious on everything to do with the analyst experience: A1/A2 comp, dinner and other benefits, WFH expectations, hours generally. Any color is really appreciated because while my interviewers have been open about whatever I’ve asked, struggling to find the right way to ask MDs how much analysts work lol. Thanks again!
Just join, their work life balance is much better than any other bank. My buddy constantly goes to bed before 11:00 pm every night. And their comp is absolutely insane, you’ll end up making way more there than you would anywhere else. I wouldn’t worry about redoing a year. Honestly congrats if this lateral move works out.
Thanks a lot for the comment. When you say culture is better, what do you have in mind? At my current shop, pretty mixed bag wrt personalities and work styles but no one is a complete dick. Culture from a WLB perspective, type of people you’re working with, etc.? Thanks for clarifying.
11pm? Is this an undercover MD selling the culture? Q is well known for 100hr weeks.
I have two friends that work there. The analysts get paid a bit higher than other EBs / on par with Centerview. The pay get significantly better than other EBs at the associate level and above.
Food benefits are pretty solid ($40/weeknight and $75/weekend day), and analysts get to go to nice expensed dinners every Friday. Need to be in office for food during the week I think
Not sure what the above comment is talking about regarding 11pm nights though. From what I hear everyone is getting absolutely crushed right now and weekends are not protected. Culture seems good though
Thanks for the helpful response. Do you have any insight on when your friends head home from the office? No problem with late nights, however curious about what time analysts stream out of the office.
do you have any tips for lateraling? I am an incoming at a diff shop, and I want to go to a better brand.
Received inbound from a HH and jumped into the process that way. Think it can be similar across firms.
Thanks! Congrats on the offer btw!
What HH were they using?
Great culture from a camaraderie and mentorship basis according to multiple ex-coworkers that started as analysts there. But work hours are pretty insane since they're so busy. Would expect to be grinding pretty hard at the analyst level. I know people that pulled multiple 100+ hr weeks in a row, though that was also 8+ years ago.
Lol obviously troll. If you receive an offer at Q you take it without hesitation. People recruit Q from GS TMT
Are their DEI candidates as bad as people say? Heard they are so desparate for diversity that they will take anyone who checks the right boxes and that leaves the team with VPs who can't even run a deal / are horrible to work for.
