Qualities of a great MBA Associate

Starting my IB career in a few months as an MBA Associate . I’ve seen a lot of shit thrown at MBA Associates, so I’ll love to hear from you guys … how can I be the best Associate you will ever work with??

Cheers

Humility and work ethic will win you the respect of the analyst pool. Roll up your sleeves and get elbows deep into the work like an analyst does until you're up the curve and really ready to be an associate.

Learn to push back (respectfully) on unreasonable tasks/deadlines AND on 2nd years who don't want to be managed by MBAs. Absolutely essential skill. Nobody respects the spineless, your analysts will hate you and bankers will perceive you as a pushover.

Don't try to "add value" in your first few months. a) work flows are already pretty streamlined and b) your value during that time is being another pair of hands. But get up the curve to really being an associate ASAP.
