Questions about investment banking.

Hello everybody.
I'm a high school student and I would like to know :
1) whether there is much job security in investment banking in general
2) whether doing a bachelor in engineering at a top canadian university instead of something related to finance/eco will be a handicap
3) Since there will be co op during my bachelor of engineering, is it better for me to apply for internship related to investment banking or my engg degree ?
4) Being an international student, will it be more difficult for me to get a job in US/canada in that field.

Thank you in advance.

But you mean that even as an associate or VP there is no job security at all ? Even at big firms ? :/

No it doesn't require that the co op is related to engineering. So it's a good idea to do internship related to finance ?

you're inquiring about job security in a market you would be working in 5-6 years from now. What happened to places like Bear and Lehman could always happen again, so it is not feasible to say whether or not there will be security in IB 5 years from now. no one knows what the economy will be like then and what jobs will still even exist. go to college, study a major that is of interest and revisit this question when you're like a sophomore or someshit.

If you are in high school and want to do Investment Banking, why would you plan to major in engineering with no intentions of being an engineer? Seems counterproductive.

Because i'm still in high school and i'm not totally sure if i'm going to do IB and as he said above, i'm going to work in 5/6 years and maybe i'll change my mind. In the meantime i'm inquiring about IB and other jobs that seem interesting according to me.
