Questions To Ask - Group Placement

So I currently have an offer but have not been placed in any group yet. I want to start networking with different groups but I’m not sure what sorts of questions I should be asking or where I should steer the conversation. What are some important things to know, and what should I ask / avoid asking about?

Half the convo should be professional other half get to know them.

Professional:

Why did you join x group? How has your experience been different vs peers in other groups? What types of deals do you work on (m&a vs lbo vs equity vs financing vs just pitching)? Most interesting deal you’ve been on? What responsibilities are given to analysts? Horizontal vs vertical culture (e.g. how often do you interact with mds and ds vs just vp and asso)?

Personal:

Do you and other analysts get together outside of office? What do you do for fun on the weekends? What plans do you have this weekend? What did you do last weekend? Favorite part about the city? Anything that surprised you? Stuff like this
