If you are looking to develop you modelling skills and get involved in deal execution so that you can exit to PE then maybe the M&A group might be best. For that reason I know many of my friends were keen on joining this group.
Industry groups will probably vary depending on the city that you are in.

FIG in NY has been doing very well lately.
Energy group has pretty good dealflow

FIG group NY was sole advisor on BB&T/Suntrust merger. They recruited a big chunk of DB FIG team (MDs/Directors/VPs) in 2017. It's a very solide group. PU&I is ranked first in all league tables in North America (ahead of Macquarie). Energy/mining of course very strong Investing a lot in M&A at the moment
