RE IB to Healthcare IB. Is it possible?
Has anyone made the transition to real estate investment banking to healthcare investment banking? Wondering if people think this is a doable transition. I see real estate IB being somewhat related to a healthcare IB because some healtcare transactions involve hospitals and other asset intensive businesses.
I really think its BS for people to say you can get pigeonholed because as they say, you're a banker first and an industry expert second. At least in my eyes.
A lot of banks cover the healthcare REITs out of the healthcare, vs. real estate groups. So that's probably your best and most obvious route. Find out which firms are strongest in healthcare RE, figure out from LinkedIn who the bankers are, and reach out to them.
