Re-recruiting - risk getting offer rescinded?

Got a return offer at a BB following an internship. Considering upgrading/rerecruiting for buyside opportunities. I know the industry is rather small, how likely is it recruiting will get back to my team and lead to a rescinded offer?

A) It's in their policy about buy-side recruiting, which is pretty well publicized. You can try, but it's definitely high risk.

B) Why try and exit IB so fast? They are looking for people with IB experience, not someone with an internship. They have pretty clear recruitment timelines. Only exception is if you are trying to get another internship to bide your time until you can start full-time.

C) You are so clearly pre-employment, if you think that the buyside is an 'upgrade'. Do you actually want to work on the buyside, or are you just chasing the prestige?

I'm looking at growth/vc opportunities that better align with my interest in startups. Also applying to other tech roles but of course there is less overlap/risk with it getting back to team.

Plenty of kids re-recruit every year. As long as you’re normal and don’t shit talk your old group, you will be fine.

Also, to address the above, if you know what you want to do / don’t care too much about preserving optionality, buy side absolutely is an upgrade. Just a much better junior experience (assuming you’re at a reputable shop that pays you at least similarly to IB ANs).

Only reason to do IB if you have a buy side offer you want is if you highly value having a large AN class and the social benefits that come with it (which is totally valid, def something I feel like I missed out on).
