Dude IMO if you can land a good buyside offer, I'd take it and not look back. But double check the attrition at your new place as this years been crazy with ppl getting laid off there too. Don't assume they were talking about you re negative feedback and don't be hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes early on but the wisest advice I can give you is make sure others think you're improving and if you can make it look natural that's better. It may not sound nice but most of the senior guys don't give a damn if u spend 100s of hours improving. They’ll brush it off. Better to improve on your own and make it look natural - takes less of their time and they’ll think you took their advice to heart. Better for them and you. If you’re not setting on staying here long term, I’d take the buyside offer wo looking back but if you leave on good terms you can leverage both sides. Good luck and dw about small mistakes early on everyone makes them.

I don't think this is terrible feedback, sounds like you are middle bucket. For better or worse, these tip-top groups are kind of a challenging environment because everyone is SO good, so little small things feel like huge issues. In other groups you have the odd analyst or two who phones it in, has 0 concept of the job and push people like you to mid or upper mid bucket... this is just less likely in your type of group since everyone had to be top flight + committed to RX recruiting so early. All this to say - I doubt you are bottom bucket or in any real danger

I sincerely doubt that VP comment was about you. Unless you literally have no idea how to operate excel and are a liability to deal teams, the head of the group does not give a shit if your technical ability is slightly behind.

Agree with the other guy though, I wouldn't be turning down good buyside offers, but I also wouldn't be racing to leave as if I were getting laid off imminently. I don't think you're in danger of getting laid off (EBs don't have the same fat to cut as BBs, RX has a busier pipeline) so if you feel 2 years in this group would help you, stick around, you're not toast or anything close to it. If you are over it and want out, that is fine too.
