real world/on the job vs. financial modeling courses

Do the models (dcf,comps,prec,lbo,m&a) that are taught from various courses such as WSO,BIWS,WSP actually reflect the complexities of those once you are working on the desk in a bank? Do you really dig through 10k/qs to find forecasted amortization and debt repayments, project out deferred taxes, models only being +- 700 lines?
