Recent HYP Grad, Hoping to Get into IB...

Hey everyone,

I graduated from HYP in May with a 3.9. I was mildly interested in IB throughout college, went to networking events, etc. But I never took it seriously, because I thought I wanted to do something else. Well, I'm doing that other thing, and I don't like it.

Is it possible to still get an IB full-time job/off-cycle internship. If so, what should I be doing? I've been applying to some random openings, but I think I need to be more targeted. Thanks.

You’ve missed the bus on internships but can still lateral into a FT job but you will need to explain why IB and why you want to quit so early into your new job.

As everyone will mention, it depends on what this other thing is. Your UG background gives a significant advantage so definitely start connecting with folks in the industry. If you can hustle with networking, as well as iron out the key interview questions (Why not whatever you currently do, Why IB, Connecting your experiences, Technicals, etc.) then I think you'll be just fine breaking in.

Thanks for the advice. How do I get started with networking in my circumstances, since I've graduated? It was "natural" in undergrad, because people were around campus, etc. Now it's not. Does LinkedIn work?
