Relocating

So I just got offered a spot in an area about 4 hours from me (not nyc) and the firm wants me to start on july 30th. I have not figured out a place to stay, moved, or done anything else necessary for relocating and this is a pretty quick turnaround. Moreover I've got a family trip planned for the first week of August. How reasonable would it be for me to ask to push back my starting date 2 weeks to August 13th?

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?

They always want you to start as soon as possible. I had pushed back my start by 2 weeks. Ideally you wait until you have the offer in your hands and then call your MD. You have to be very diplomatic about this as it can become quickly a sensitive issue and get you on a bad start with your team. So explain briefly your reasons and gauge if it would be a problem to start later mentioning that you'd of course understand if they need you asap.
