Reneging for FT - Ethical Dilemma (Desperate)
Desperately need advice: I finished up an internship this past summer at a very strong MM/Boutique IB firm in NYC and I signed the return offer two weeks after it ended. Great people, was put on really interesting deals, and I can tell they invest a lot into their interns so overall a great experience. However, someone recently contacted me from a top BB bank in NYC and I have been offered an interview for FT (IB but different group than what I was doing previously).
Should I continue with the interview? My biggest worry is that people at the BB bank will contact those at my internship MM bank and they will find out I already signed, causing both to drop me. And let's say I get an offer (who knows), is reneging bad?
Maybe I am over analyzing this, but any advice is appreciated.
Are you retarded? yes you should interview and try to get the FT offer at a better bank. People renege all the time, and there are no consequences for doing so. Also it’s technically illegal for them to try to intervene and contact other employer.
Banks fuck and screw over analysts all the time, the least you can do is act in your self interest and do what’s best for your career.
1000% go for it, fuck em
Do it! I did it and it worked out, but that’s only one personal anecdote
