Reneging...within the same firm. ADVICE needed.
Hey guys, might totally get MS for this but I'm in a bit of a pickle. So backstory I am eligible to work in country A and B. Country A i have no family there and do not live there currently, Country B I have family and friends (altogether country B is more appealing to me). Thing is I got an offer for BB FT in country A as their process was so accelerated. I accepted the offer and continued searching for jobs in Country B (practical reasons).
Lo and behold, BB that accepted me in country A also posted a new job posting for Country B (same role, same pay etc). Now, I love Country B and would very much want to work in Country B and if I could have the same role starting out in Country B, that would be the most ideal. Global mobility eventually (A -> B is just not certain so I am not banking on that). The tricky part is that if I get the role in Country B, I have to renege WITHIN the same firm. Has anyone heard of that happening? Is HR super connected within the firm across global locations? Lol coz it seems that the HR was quite disjointed but I am not sure after all but I don't want to lose BOTH offers in the end....What do you reckon? Should I apply for the role in Country B? It feels so annoying that this is the exact role I want in the exact location I want yet they posted it so late....

Thanks for your advice. Yeah it seems that I should take the conservative route here and play it safe. its just so annoying...coz its the location i want yknow? and same role too...

Honestly, since it’s same firm just different country I would just ask, when and if you get an offer from Country B, if doing so would get your offer rescinded.
Don’t listen to WSO, people on here make you believe that people are ruthless and will do anything to see you suffer, this is not the case. Most HR reps are really nice and understanding.
Worst thing that can happen is them saying no sorry you cannot do that it would be improper or something along those lines
Thanks and yes it seems that most people here would be more conservative when it comes to reneging and stuff liek that. thanks for ur advice but the thing would mean that i would first have to apply to the role (in country b), im wondering since i already accepted the offer with country a that they would not take that well if they find out about me continuing to apply to other roles despite alr accepting thei offer
Just because you got an offer for a place at one country doesn’t mean you’ll get the offer at the other country, especially if that’s a more competitive region
yah its not really about whether ill get the offer or nah its more of the action of applying to the role ...i mean sure i might not get the role in the end, but im thinking of what if and how to deal with that..
Do not do this, you will absolutely lose your offer. Work for 1 year at the first place and lateral, BBs are very happy to relocate you if you wait just one year
