Replying to MD's email

An MD had asked for my resume and I got a reply from him saying "Just to give you a brief update, XXX is reviewing your resume and I am expecting feedback from him shortly. " Should I reply thanking him or should I just wait for the feedback.I obviously do not want to annoy him.

Seconding tan86's advice. Don't be afraid to follow up if you don't hear back for a while (MDs tend to be pretty busy). If you don't hear back for a week, send him/her a follow up email.

tell him your life story... Why do banks hire people that ask this type of questions?

i'd plan to follow up... but if you fire the email off too soon you have used your excuse to follow up... wait a bit then follow up and say thank you as an excuse to check in and remind him to get back to you

^^ nah, I wouldn't wait a whole week just to say thank you.

Just send a short note saying thank you and then politely follow up in a week or so if you don't hear back.
