Reputation of Truist in IB?

I am a current university student soon to start the process of (hopefully) landing my summer analyst internship. I've started to look into different banks to figure out where I want to target more heavily. I'm from Georgia, so I am familiar with Truist Securities and have started to consider it but I never hear the firm discussed with other investment banks. I know it's not as big but I'm curious as to what its reputation/ status is.

I am also from GA and would say steer away from Truist, I actually worked there as a sophomore, granted not in securities. But I can say from what I've heard from working there and knowing people that do, they don't do that many deals and I'm pretty sure they still pay below street.

They also laid off a ton of analysts last year, specifically in TMT from what I remember and made the entire FIG group relocate to NYC or lose their jobs. Pretty bad culture and you aren't compensated with the deal experience you would get from better name banks with bad culture.

Unless you are DEADSET on staying in Atlanta I wouldn't work there full time (maybe intern if it's your only option), there are other groups in ATL but they tend to be super small (Gug hired 5 SA for 2025) so it's not realistic to bank on offers from the smaller shops here. A lot easier to just recruit everywhere unless your set on ATL.
