Request for FT Recruiting Advice for Lateral SA

Hi guys,

I'm from a top target school and currently have an internship for the summer at a BB M&A group. Should I want to lateral to a different BB next year, what should I do? I'm mainly interested in TMT or M&A for lateral, but that may be asking for too much.

I understand that FT recruiting is limited, since most of the spots are filled with previous summer interns. But I've heard of some people being able to lateral.

Besides getting a return offer, what else should I do to get into accelerated recruiting? I don't have many IB contacts (I got my current internship without any networking or contacts, just high GPA), and I've only ever applied to one IB job, whose offer I decided to accept. Most of my schools recruiting events are for SA, so I'm not sure by what angle to approach this.

Also, despite my non-business major and limited IB knowledge, the information on this forum was invaluable to a noobie like me!

this is how i imagine the recruiting process was like for the extremely hot, brain-dead female analysts i worked with

I assume you are at a non-MS/JPM M&A group.

Start networking now with people at the firms/groups you are interested in. During the summer keep in touch with them and near the end send an email seeing if they have an idea about FT hiring needs.

Besides networking, it is essential that you get a return offer to your current group.

What OCR resources do you think would me most appropriate for my situation? All of our networking/recruiting events happening on campus are occurring for rising sophs/juniors. Or should I reach out directly to recruiters and analysts at various firms?

How early should I start reaching out/networking? It seems a little weird to start before my summer internship even begins. Also, I am worried that my current BB will find out I am talking to other bank members/recruiters, and not give me a return offer.
