Resources for beginner learning about markets

So I go to a large state school that is a non-target, but our business program is quickly growing and more and more kids are landing IB jobs every year. There is a prestigious student-run investment club at my school tailored for stocks, and it handles a few million from the school's endowment fund, and every year they accept around 10-15 students out of over a hundred applicants. The club is almost an internship as it requires about 10-15 hours per week of work and it also has decent alumni connections to Wall St. The application process requires a bit of knowledge on markets and fundamentals. I've read The Intelligent Investor and have been reading the WSJ for the past year, and I also invest in the market with extra money I earn from work over break or whatnot. However, I was wondering if some more experienced people could recommend some material I could look at that would be good for a beginner to understand markets better and set myself apart from other applicants, as I am probably not the only one that will have done a little bit of homework.
