does anyone know of a textbook type material that gives a basic outline of restructuring banking (or anything that would be helpful)?
what might one expect for a 3rd year analyst interview in restructuring group?

Read the Houlihan Lokey case study thats in one of the other "what to expect for restructuring" threads.
"Creating Value Through Corporate Restructuring" by Gilson (Wiley Finance) is pretty good.
Also, for interview questions - I only did SA in restructuring, still shopping FT, but I'm guessing you can expect the following (assuming your first 2 years were not in restructuring):
If you have already done 2-yr analyst in restructuring I assume you'll talk about deals you worked on and questions will be more rigorous.
My favorite is Moyer's Distressed Debt Analysis.
Also useful Whitman's Distress Investing and Altman's Corporate Financial Distress and Bankruptcy
excellent, plenty of material for me here, I'll be sure to check it all out
The best book is Altman's Corporate Financial Distress and Restructuring. It's a Bible in all aspects.
