Rice student here - Rice will be better for Houston recruiting strictly in terms of placement per capita and ease of recruiting since there are less students pursuing IB compared to UT and you can take the metro downtown for coffee chats.

Internal competition at Rice is increasing as its undergraduate business major grows, but you should get an offer if you put in the work. Pretty much every bank comes to campus and alumni are very responsive.

That being said, UT places exceptionally well in Houston also. If you are at all interested in New York, UT will give you much better odds, especially if you are non-diversity.

and also if you dont land ib, corporate banking and commercial banking and other financial services are dominated by ut/state school grads

also a&m and uh and txst have feeder commercial banking programs that crowd out rice grads since they have to fill those with the other grads to maintain relationships

so yea as a rice person the deck is stacked heavily against you
