Rich girlfriend vs IB career

I have been getting more serious with a girl whose family net worth is around 70 million (for reference my family at ~10mil net worth isn't poor, but nothing to write home about). She's not the kind of person who I ever envisioned dating, and we don't have much in common, but after getting to know her more--and learning about her family wealth--I have been starting to like her more and more. Assuming I have a decent chance at marrying her, should I just quit my IB job? It's really taking a toll on my mental health and making it increasingly hard for me to spend time with her.

Interesting that your family is well off by any standard, yet you’d seriously think about marrying someone who you wouldn’t have considered otherwise - until her family’s networth came into play. I’ll leave judgment at that.

How sure are you that she’ll have access to her family’s wealth? What if her siblings inherited most of them? Maybe her parents will donate 99% to charity? Or the family is levered to tits on their enterprise, and in a down cycle gets wiped out? What if her parents disowns her after learning you’re about to marry her (as ridiculous as this sounds)? How serious is your Corinthians 13 game in a downside?

Take money out of the picture. Not because it’s not great to be rich, but because the wealth here is intimidating you into submission of your own values, and that ultimately won’t make you happy. You’re not a 19th century female going to college only to find a suitable husband. Have some fucking balls son.

Jesus Christ - $10mm nothing to write home about?  Do you have 20 siblings or something?  I had a higher net worth than my parents after a year and a half on the desk.

I come from down in the valley, where mister when you're young, they bring you up to do like your daddy done

the fact that u went digging these things up before dating the other person shows u are messed up in the head, nobody should ever date you analyst 1. at any rate, u will probably get dumped soon if this is ur world view of relationships. and by posting this nonsense here, what kind of responses were you expecting? Start a get rich ponzi scheme so you can catch up? I am sure your tinder bio shows some kind of forecasted cash flows along with DCF assumptions...net worth 100 million, terminal value 50 years from now represents 99% of net worth

lmao 10million is nothing to write home about...the disparity on this website is hilarious

Huh 70MM is considered enough for you to give up your career? Assuming she has an average of 1.5 siblings, considering things like taxes and slippage, she will only inherit ~23MM. That's pretty fucking pathetic. Any halfwit could net 23MM a year at a PE MF

I'd only consider doing this if you're disabled to the point that working 100 hour weeks will stop your heart or clog your arteries or whatever.
