Risk Management Pay

Currently in the process of SA recruiting. I have applied to both risk management jobs along with investment banking. In regards to risk management I was wondering:

1. Have the salaries in risk management been affected by the recent banking increase? If not, can they be expected to increase over the next year? How were risk salaries affected historically?

2. How are risk management base salaries handled. Do they increase at the same rate as investment banking salaries? I'm looking to get a sense of how a salary in risk can look 2-4 years out.

If anyone has any insight on this that would be very helpful. Thanks!

I'm in the same situation as you, and would find this helpful.

I've read that risk management comp was 70k+10-15% bonus, but am not sure if they got a bump in base. I've also seen that some banks have different roles and comp for risk management.

I can't speak to entry-level positions, however, at the VP level in risk, you would be looking at around $150-170 base, and around $40-$60 in bonus. Your salary will definitely be lower than for FO positions and the bonus will be relatively small, however, your position will be relatively stable (unlikely to get laid off). The recent orgy of legislation has pushed wages up for RM folks and it looks like the more quantitative risk jobs are still seeing some hefty yoy increases.

Just to add some regional color to the discussion, I have a friend at GS SLC risk management who is at 55k base and 10k bonus. Does anyone know if that is far off typical risk management compensation outside of New York?
