Very doable as an analyst if you have a good reputation with the banking teams. You should make a few friends with the banking analysts and get word when there's an opening. That way you can get a first look by the team before it's marketed more widely. When the opportunity presents itself you should be transparent with your boss too who can support you with the switch.

Assuming you’re in credit risk at the analyst level, it’s doable to move to DCM or LevFin or other credit focused IB groups like SPG or PF etc. moving to coverage or M&A might be a bit harder but should be possible particularly internally
