Rothschild LA vs Cowen NY

Have offers at both. Not dead set on leaving for the buyside but would like to keep my options open. Which would you choose and why? I know Rothschild is on an upward trajectory, but is that only in New York? I know Cowen is growing too. I don't have strong preferences industry wise, and a chiller environment would be a consideration too.

This is completely untrue. Are people just saying anything nowadays. You can absolutely go from NY to LA and LA to NY lmao.

Congrats on Cowen man!

Rothschild La is rather new. One of my mentors worked there and ended up in corporate VC at a huge firm. They primarily work on tech M&A and have an umm-mm focus. Rothschild is a brand name and this is a new office so there is most likely a larger chance for internal promotion. Cowen does primarily ecm while Rothschild is more of a pure play advisory. Depends on what you are looking for but I’d take Rothschild, there exits are actually pretty good according to LinkedIn

Both are MM in the US and both have been doing poor this year (at least Roths US in general). Probably comes down to specific group culture and if you want to be in NYC or on the west coast
