SA 2020 - Internal Mobility for FT 2021?

Hey all,

So the current situation with the FT offers being given out to interns (Citi/Moelis so far) makes it look like there will be little to no FT 2021 recruitment for IB. I’m joining a front office SA position at a top BB (GS/MS) which is not directly related to IB, but wanted to recruit for IB internally within the firm for a full time offer. Does anybody have any ideas on how realistic would the internal mobility be in a current situation? What are some of the steps I should take to maximize my chances now?

Internal mobility seems like it could be possible as firms wouldn't have to spend a lot of time and effort going through a full recruitment process for FT especially given that there wont be that many FT slots anyways. I would continue to try to network with people now and possibly even in the office assuming your internship does go in person later in the summer. But then again, so much is changing everyday and happening on the firm's side of things with recruiting that we really dont know what the FT process will even look like.

bro just go for it... you don’t need approval from a bunch of quarantined monkeys. if it works thats fucking great if not you don’t lose anything.

i’m fucking tired of everyone seeking approval on this site. especially since no one knows shit during these unprecedented times
