SA Networking for people who made it!

For people who received SA offers..

How many people did you maintain a networking relationship with?

When did you start making these relationships?

Around what levels were the people you networked with?

I know the obvious answers(network asap and with as many people as possible) but was curious to see what people with offers did

The answers to your question are going to vary widely from those that did zero networking and landed good internships to those that networked as much as conceivable yet don't have much to show for it. A lot of it just comes down to the individual applicant (no amount of networking is going to fix a 2.0 GPA, while some people just have golden resumes). There is very little downside to networking, so I would advise you to network as much as possible, starting around the fall preceding your recruiting season (i.e., network in fall/winter 2014/early 2015 for 2015 summer internships).

Thanks for the career advice guys! I'm gonna network and grind hard regardless, but was just curious to see what others did

FWIW, from my analyst class in my group, I think maybe 25% did heavy networking (at least 10ish info interviews, ballparking here), 25% did no networking, and 50% were in between those first two groups somewhere.

I can bet that far, far less than 25% of the applicant pool did heavy networking, so this group is very over-represented - if 5% of applicants networked this hard and the class is 25% these kids... Shows the power of networking

Are your counts for a specific bank or just total? i.e. 25% did 10 info interviews with everyone or just your firm...?
