Sauna Networking - what people are ignoring in this day and age.

Sauna networking is basically a lost art in investment banking. Everyone depends on cold emails and quick coffee chats, but real conversations usually happen in places no one thinks to use. I just had a great chat in the sauna with a guy from the thirds alpine skiing team at a well known Northeast boarding school, and he spends 4 to 6 hours in there on weekends talking to anyone who walks in. It sounds insane, but it works because there are no phones, no distractions, and people actually talk. In a field that runs on relationships, that kind of environment ends up being a real edge.

it’s great to network and talk in the sauna, everyone could use some more face to face real talk in their lives. However, EVERYONE DO NOT SPEND 4-6HRS IN THE SAUNA. That is extremely dangerous and you could die. Stick to 30m convos once a day at most haha

From top-down, every sauna in NYC is for cruising. May as well do your networking in the infamous Port Authority men's room.
