The only way they are able to recruit nowadays is saying “don’t worry change is coming”

I actually somehow have insider info and can confirm the likely new head of sponsors is pretty capable. UBS will truly be one of the banks of all time after the hire.

If you need a search firm to staff your ib leadership it's over before it even began

I bet Marco hired them and will still be there somehow as their bosses

I was approached, but they’re all terrible roles where you lack support needed for major deals

ah yes, they should integrate another bank which will totally fix their problems!

I had a recruiter email me unsolicited on Friday asking me if I was looking for new roles outside UBS, because he had heard there is going to be mass layoffs in Q1 next year.

I told him 1) obviously I’m interested and 2) UBS is constantly laying people off so dont think you have any crazy intel…

Goes without saying UBS should lay off Marco before anyone else at this point. At some point its the leaders fault, not random mid levels.

some groups don’t have enough people to layoff (at least for analyst/aso) because so many left

Open secret that a significant reduction of 50% of US IB staff coming next spring with significant percentage of staff receiving little to no bonus. Senior leadership believes the team could produce just as much at half the size.
