Seeking Help Plotting my Next Move
So I'm a year and a half into my investment banking gig. I work in a small group in IBD at a BB. Here's my dilemma: while I've received consistently very positive feedback and was top bucket last year, promotion is unlikely after three years for some complicated reasons. I do have a 3rd year guaranteed.
I have what I would consider a reasonable amount of deal experience (mostly M&A related), but the role my team plays in a given deal is very niche and usually somewhat limited. I know some pretty cool things, but I'm mostly missing the bread and butter experience with standard modeling and execution tasks you expect to see in someone with an IB background.
I'm looking for some advice on plotting my next move. I think my ability to land a good exit or new role within my firm depends on figuring out which roles I should target and how best to spin my experience. I'd really appreciate any ideas you folks have.
I can give more detail over PM if helpful.
Curious to hear your thoughts - I'm in a somewhat similar position. Top bucket, good deal experience, and aiming for promotion (although second year instead of third). I was told that leveraging another offer would be most effective but the problem is that I'm in a niche industry too.
