Semi-Target + BB Trad Finance → TMT IB — Advice?
Currently working in a traditional finance role at a BB (think GS/MS/JPM) and will be starting a quantitative master’s program (non-MBA) at a semi-target (Rice/Vandy tier).
Long-term goal is to move into West Coast TMT investment banking (Bay Area ideally). Because of a full-time role, I would be targeting a direct lateral/internal move instead of the traditional internship pipeline.
If you were in my shoes, what can be done over the next 12–18 months to make this move feasible?
Are internal recruiters useful when it comes to actually landing interviews/offers in this kind of move?
