Semi-Target Transfer Vs Continuing State School
Hello Everyone!
I’m a rising sophomore at a non-target SEC state school in the investment banking program that has nearly 100% placement in Investment Banking. However, I was also admitted into Vanderbilt as a transfer student.
Cost is not an issue. Climate is similar. Football is similar. I’d be happy staying at my state school but I’m also excited at the idea of change so I’d enjoy my time either way.
My dilemma is that I have a good thing going for me at my current school, but the prospect of attending Vanderbilt is very appealing. Do you think that moving to Vanderbilt makes sense knowing that I could land a good job at my current school as long as I put in the work? It would still be an uphill battle. How does Vanderbilt recruiting work? I’ve done research and it seems like they have much more on campus presence than my current school (none), but I’d have to rejoin the on-campus clubs again which could be difficult as a transfer with less time to network with upperclassmen. Do the recruiting/alumni pipelines run through the clubs?
I’m open to any and all advice/suggestions.
Thank you for taking the time to read and help!
