Serious Chimp in Distress

Hi all, I’m in need of advice and gonna start off with a little personal background.

1) Graduated with Finance & Economics Degree in Australia. 2) Went back to Malaysia (home country) and did audit for a year and a half. 3) Got an offer from a “small” IB in their Corporate Finance department. - No joke, I’ve been dreaming to join IB’s CF since day 1 in uni, and now I got it. 4) For there MIGHT be differences among countries, a little clarification, Corporate Finance in Malaysia’s IB mainly deals with Execution of corporate exercises/deals of sorts. Including (M&A, getting clients listed on the stock exchange - IPOs, etc.)

SO, I got my dream job, and what distress could I be possibly in? Long story short, getting into the sell-side is the first step of my long term plan. In future, I would very much like to join PE or VC.

With the above information, I would like to know am I in the right track for what I want in the long term? If yes, would you all be so kind to provide some advice? If no, may I know what’s the exit option for IB’s CF?

Would greatly appreciate your feedbacks.
