Share contact info with other interns?

I’m going to be interning this summer in IB. Recently got an email from HR asking us if we want to share our contact info with other interns (name, email, phone, office location, etc). Does opting in or out have any impact on how I’m perceived, either by HR or by analysts, and does it influence return offer decisions in any way? Just want to know if choosing not to share could be viewed negatively, thanks!

Early on in your career, socialize as much as possible. Do everything you can both in and outside of work to build your network - go to every social event, every happy hour with your team, grab lunch w other interns, etc. It will benefit you massively in the long run.

Don’t think it will hurt your reputation in the eyes of HR, but ultimately you are also judged on how many people know your name. Maybe not interns, but around the group.

Someone will for sure make a groupchat and try to get everyone together before your official start date for drinks. You gotta be part of the pack in banking, especially as an intern. I always remember seeing the interns who got left out (either by choice or not) usually did not return (again either because they chose not to or people thought they were awk and didn’t get a return offer)

forget how it will affect your return offer. What possible reason is there to not share contact details. At worst, you stay silent in the GC and just lurk?

You do not need Mossad level OpSec, you are an intern.
