Shirt Color for Business Casual at Goldman
So I am going to be working at Goldman soon, and I am starting to accumulate clothes. I am going to be dressed in business casual mostly and was wondering what color you guys recommend for the dress shirts. I think I am going to be pretty conservative with the suits/ pants, going mostly charcoal and navy (maybe 1 pant/ suit that is dark grey). If I was wearing a suit / tie everyday, I would go mostly white / light blue shirts. But since I will just be in dress shirts and pants mostly, what color shirts do you recommend?
Are you not going to be wearing a tie? Why not? Business casual should be a tie, no jacket, esp. if you are an intern or junior person. White and blue is the way to go. Light pink if you've got the skin tone to pull it off is good for the summer.
A tie with no jacket? Is this prep school?
He's not a waiter...
No the group I am going to be in doesn't really wear ties
Which is why it is more complicated. If I had to wear a tie then it would be a no brainer, white / light blue shirts. Since there is no tie, white looks kinda dull and stupid I think.
Man just keep it simple, white shirt, a few different shades of blue, few with stripes or checkered patterns, yellow, etc.. as long as the colors aren't LOUD.
My internship this summer is B.cas
Thought it was the reverse, jacket with no tie.
Yeah no tie guys. Doesn't a plain white shirt with navy or charcoal pants look strange?
I'm an intern in SF (not goldman), I wear a blue/white shirt, dark color pants, and a blazer. no tie. I just went to casual brands like calvin klein and h&m. I think plain shirts are fine if pants are stripe or something.
This might sound toolish but the best way to look decent in simple clothes (i.e. plain white shirt and plain dark pants) is to be fit. That way you can get a better vut shirt and pants which look more stylish than baggier ones.
Just wear a tuxedo t-shirt
Because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party
It is very good thinking that for business purpose people prefer business shirts as they are in the professional way and to show what you are it is the best way.
Solid white, light blue, and pink. You don't need any other colors.
Pink? Haha my team would laugh at me for days and never let that down.
Do you work in GS IBD? Pink shirts aren't nearly as common as white or blue but are still normal.
Always wear full suit & tie on first day
at the firm they wear only bright pink with yellow horizontal stripes. YOu also need to get G.S. stitched in on all of your shirts across the chest, kinda like the s in superman.
The G is in the heineken green, the S in the traditional GS blue.
If you wear that they will promote you to partner straight away.
