Should I join SilverMile Capital?
Hi all,
I'm a 2nd year student studying in London, have had a previous EB IB spring week but haven't got a summer internship yet for this year. Am considering trying to join Silvermile Capital to gain some more experience but curious to hear your thoughts on whether that's a good option or not?
Many thanks,
No, it’s a fraud and everyone knows it. It’s not a legit firm.
How come it’s a fraud ? I see students from Durham, LSE and employees
cv fodder it seems: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/job-search/london-boutique-banks
is it seriously fraud? whats so bad about it? 37k followers on linnkedin
Never heard of them, but after a quick search, I cannot believe how many students have sacrificed time for this scam. The partners are no-names with zero IB experience and relatively recent grad dates.
You really think owners of businesses are going to trust a bunch of mid-20 guys without real experience to sell legitimate companies?
Do your due diligence people! If something looks sketchy and has no tombstones, it's for a reason.
What benefit to they gain considering it’s so obviously fake ? It just ruins their reputation
Tbh, I think HR are just morons, and/or people interviewing don't realise or care. Seen a few people with SilverMile go on to get legitimate IB/PE internships (JPM, decent boutiques like GP Bullhound) which surprised me because it's such an obvious scam/fake company.
Many that are desperate want something on their resume and, in theory, you can spin tasks to convince naive hiring managers that you have some relevant experience. To the other poster's point - HR is too dumb to know the difference and if you can get by them, it gives you a shot.
We recently got a couple of candidates with a similar bank that applied and got through to actual superdays. Needless to say they were grilled on those and didn't make it through.
I actually interned at SilverMile but I was in the US. The work consisted of going on a few calls with prospective VCs, working on a pitch deck that emphasized comparable companies, doing a lot of research, and writing reports. That's about it.
I second this, interned for them recently. I also joined meetings between series C-D firms and prospective investors, subsequently working on investment memos.
was the internship actually worth while? or is it really all fake?
I recently interned for them and the workload was fair, you get to work on Mid-Market TMT deals, that is capital raising or M&A.
