Should I move up the league tables or stick with my group?

3Y VP getting promoted to Director in February. Currently at Barclays/Jefferies and have been here since an analyst - 9 years. Have an offer with GS/MS and not sure if worth leaving a place where I have an established reputation and community for more / “better” deal flow. I’m 31 and have a lot of time in this career ahead of me so it makes sense but I have it good here and feel like it’s rare to like your job / group in this industry.

Thoughts? Should I take it?

Just a college student here so take with grain of salt but why would you ever do this?

Congrats on the upcoming promotion: Going from undergrad to Director at BB in less than 10 years seems like a success to me

You most likely have great relationships at your current bank and know how things work: law of inertia

We here so much about prestige at my age: undergrad and analyst years. I’m wondering if this still matters to people in their 30s

It doesn't. But some people realize it a little late in their career, and then they get stuck in their "prestigious" shop
