Should I sell all my stocks before starting as an IB analyst?
Starting at a BB in a few weeks within the DCM group. I own a bunch of individual stocks in my Roth IRA account, and while I don't trade much, I'll make the occasional trade.
Should I sell everything and put it in a index fund? I don't want to deal with any compliance bullshit for a $200 trade.
How do analysts deal with their personal investment accounts?
You're allowed to keep positions that existed before you started. All trades going forward would need to be cleared.
So I would need clearance to exit out of those positions (sell)?
yea
Does this apply to index funds as well? How about ETFs?
They'll let you know in your contract but normally you need to preclear, there are exceptions but not many, plus you'll have a holding period. In terms of selling, you have to report everything.
What about crypto?
Better safe than sorry
