Should I take back office offer at MUFG Union Bank?? Input appreciated.
I recently received an offer at Union Bank doing back office work (Think internal auditing and documentation check.....). I was wondering if I should take the internship or try and recruit for something else last minute like Private Equity. I am going into my Junior year this fall, so recruiting for Junior year summer is right around the corner. Will taking this internship harm my chances for junior year recruiting for BB IB and such?
After my freshman year, I worked at a boutique investment bank, but was not able to secure an offer this Sophomore year summer for a middle market IB and would prefer not to do any unpaid boutique IB internships.
My goals for Junior year recruiting are either Leveraged Finance/Capital Market IB, corporate finance, or Corporate/Commercial Banking. Thanks.
Any experience is better than no experience, though it would be more advisable to take a non-paid IB internship over a paid back-office internship any day of the week. Especially if it's your sophomore year, unless your family is financially unstable.
