Signed a 2027 SA backfill… should I still delay graduation to recruit for 2028?

Did two years at a non-target and transferred into a semi-target this fall, so I'm a junior on paper. Already have a couple of boutique IB internships from before the transfer.

The plan coming in was to push graduation back a semester so I'd have a shot at SA 2028 at BB/EBs, since I missed most of the SA 2027 cycle while transferring. Then a backfill offer for SA 2027 at a mid-tier BB came through and I signed it. So now I've got the "normal" junior summer locked up, and I'm not sure if the extra semester still makes sense.

Where my head's at:
- Stick with the original plan: extend a semester, keep recruiting for SA 2028 at BB/EBs with the 2027 SA on my resume, treat 2027 as a stepping stone
- Or drop the extension, graduate on time, grind for the return, go FT and lateral later if I want to move up
- Can't tell which way the signed 2027 offer cuts for 2028 recruiting. Downside: return offer timing, groups asking why I'm not going back, burning the bridge at the first bank. Flip side: I'd be walking into 2028 interviews with a real BB experience to come, which should make me a stronger candidate than most of the pool, and groups might like me more for it.

Worth noting the extra semester isn't a stretch in my case. Transferring cost me credits, so a late graduation is a normal outcome here and it's an easy story to tell in interviews, not something that looks like I'm gaming the cycle.

Looking for input from anyone who's in or has been in a similar spot, or anyone on the recruiting side who can tell me how this reads from a bank's point of view. Would you still extend and recruit? Is a mid-tier BB SA + return meaningfully worse than re-recruiting into a top group for 2028, or is the lateral route just as good? Appreciate any thoughts.
